Our journey to help you
Learn about the inspiration behind Freedom to Shackles and Back, our mission, and how our personal experiences drive our commitment to supporting you and your loved ones through challenging times.

Our personal journey and commitment
The first time I went to prison, I was young and had no idea what to expect. My mom struggled immensely trying to help me, making an already difficult situation even harder. It is this profound personal experience that inspired the creation of Freedom to Shackles and Back. We do not want anyone else to endure such a challenging time without guidance and support. Our foundation is built on empathy and a deep understanding of the journey you and your family are facing.

Guidance rooted in experience
What makes our guidance unique is the first-hand knowledge we bring to the table. We have navigated these waters ourselves, learning the hard way what to do and what not to do. Our aim is to share this invaluable experience with you, so you can avoid the same mistakes. We provide practical insights and strategies to help you understand the prison system and the re-entry process, making it a more manageable journey for everyone involved.

Support for everyone impacted
When a loved one goes to prison, everyone involved is impacted. In a way, you are all a part of it—them doing their time in prison, and you doing yours at home. The absence of that person can have a major impact on some people. We offer referrals to groups of people dealing with similar situations, or one-on-one sessions with our specialists. Our team includes both male and female ex-offenders, providing diverse perspectives and insights into what they and others did while coping with similar challenges.
"With their help, a daunting experience became something I could handle. I found peace of mind knowing I wasn't alone."
